Lake County Sheriff's Office Investigates Body Found in Bag on Hunt Club Road

OLD MILL CREEK, Ill. - Lake County investigators are working diligently to solve a disturbing crime after a woman's body was discovered on the side of a road in Old Mill Creek early Wednesday morning. The Lake County Sheriff's Office is calling it a homicide investigation and is seeking information from the public to help shed light on the tragic incident.

The woman's body was found dumped on the shoulder of Hunt Club Road, south of Route 173, at approximately 7 a.m. Authorities are meticulously scouring through missing persons reports in Lake County and will expand their search to surrounding counties and states if necessary, according to Lake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.

Deputy Chief Covelli disclosed that the victim is believed to be a Caucasian woman, aged 30 or older, based on preliminary information. Her face showed signs of trauma, as revealed by Sheriff's detectives. When the body was discovered, it was partially covered by a garbage bag.

The Lake County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the woman's body later on Wednesday, but the cause of death remains unknown at this time. Investigators are now working diligently to identify the victim, determine her origin, and piece together her activities leading up to the crime. Their ultimate goal is to identify the perpetrator and hold them accountable for this heinous act.

Authorities have called for the public's assistance as they work tirelessly to solve this case.
