In a recent appearance on Russia's state-run RT News network, Amir Weitmann, the head of the libertarian caucus in Israel's Likud Party, issued a warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing wars in Israel and Ukraine. The Israeli politician discussed the fighting between Israel and Hamas militants, as well as Russia's war with Ukraine.During the interview, Weitmann expressed his criticism of Russia's support for what he called "enemies of Israel" and accused them of backing "Nazi people who want to commit genocide on us." He firmly stated, "Russia will pay the price" for its actions and vowed that Israel would ensure Ukraine's success and hold Russia accountable. The conflicts between Israel and Hamas have been escalating since October 7, when Hamas led a deadly attack on Israel. In response, Israel launched heavy airstrikes on Gaza, with the possibility of a ground invasion. The ongoing violence has resulted in a humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory, with casualties rising on both sides. As per the Associated Press, nearly 2,800 people have been killed in Gaza, while more than 1,400 Israelis have lost their lives. One major point of contention is the explosion at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City. Both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of being responsible for the incident. Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum claimed that there is substantial evidence, including eyewitness accounts and videos, indicating that Israel deliberately committed the "Baptist Hospital massacre."However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have denied the accusations, stating that it was a failed rocket launch by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization that hit the hospital. The IDF shared alleged phone conversations between Hamas militants discussing the attack as evidence. The international community, including U.S. President Joe Biden, has been closely monitoring the situation. President Biden, during his visit to Tel Aviv, expressed his view that the hospital bombing appeared to be perpetrated by the "other team," while acknowledging the need to gather more information. The incident has caught the attention of the Russian Foreign Ministry, which called it an act of dehumanization and urged both Israel and the U.S. to provide satellite images to substantiate their claims of innocence.Newsweek reached out to the Russian Foreign Ministry for comment but has yet to receive a response. As tensions continue to rise in the Middle East and Europe, the consequences of these ongoing conflicts remain uncertain. The warning issued by Amir Weitmann on Russian state TV reflects the escalating rhetoric and positions taken by various parties involved. The international community is watching closely for any developments that could potentially impact regional stability.
