Police in Indiana have released dramatic body camera footage showing the incredible rescue of a man trapped in his truck for nearly a week. The footage, consisting of six separate videos, captures the perspectives of five different officers during the rescue operation on December 26, 2023.

In one of the videos, an officer from the Portage Police Department can be heard expressing astonishment, stating, "I've never seen something like this before, ever." The footage reveals the wreckage of the truck under a bridge, surrounded by running water.

The video shows first responders employing various tools to extricate 27-year-old Matt Reum, while investigators work to piece together the details of the crash. According to preliminary investigations, Reum was traveling westbound on Interstate 94 on December 20 when his truck veered off the road, plunged into a ditch, became airborne, and rolled multiple times before landing in a creek beneath a bridge.

The impact of the crash left Reum trapped inside the vehicle, making it impossible for him to reach his cellphone and call for help. Six days later, two fishermen searching for new fishing spots discovered the truck beneath the overpass, seemingly containing a lifeless body. However, when one of the men touched the body, they were amazed as Reum turned his head and spoke.

Officials credit the unusually mild weather in northern Indiana for aiding Reum's survival during the grueling ordeal. In a report by FOX Weather, it was noted that the recent weather conditions, which are typically colder during this time of year, likely played a significant role in his ability to endure the ordeal.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Glen Fifield expressed his awe at the miraculous survival, stating, "Quite frankly, it's a miracle that he's alive."
