In a revealing new book by Jonathan Karl, the extent of Donald Trump's frustrations over the timing of his criminal trial and his treatment of his own lawyers is laid bare. Titled "Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party," the book recounts Trump's furious reaction upon learning that his trial in the Stormy Daniels hush-money case was scheduled to start on March 25, 2024. The trial date falls right in the middle of the Republican primaries and merely 20 days before the pivotal Super Tuesday, potentially overshadowing his presidential campaign efforts.

According to an anonymous source present in the room, Trump's anger was directed towards his lawyer, Todd Blanche. The former president reportedly yelled, "That's in the middle of the primaries! If I lose the presidency, you are going to be the reason!" Trump's tantrum lasted nearly half an hour, as he proceeded to voice his frustration with other lawyers on his team, accusing them of wanting to see him indicted. The intense reaction was witnessed just as Trump sat in his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago.

This book is the third in a series of Trump-focused volumes by Karl. The previous works, "Front Row at the Trump Show" and "Betrayal," have both achieved bestseller status. "Tired of Winning" is scheduled to go on sale in the US on November 14.

The release of Karl's book coincides with a week filled with contrasting fortunes for Trump. On one hand, he was compelled to testify in his New York fraud trial, which poses a threat to his business empire. On the other hand, a recent New York Times/Siena College poll suggests that Trump leads Joe Biden in five of the six critical swing states that will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. This survey highlights how Trump, despite facing 91 felony charges, appears unaffected by the legal turmoil, although it also cautions that a conviction and subsequent sentencing could lead voters in those key states to shift towards Biden.

"Tired of Winning" delves into the notion that Trump's legal battles have paradoxically increased his standing within the Republican Party. The book relays an observation made by Steve Bannon, Trump's former senior adviser, who suggested that the indictments could potentially be turned to Trump's political advantage. Bannon reportedly stated that Trump could secure the nomination if he played his cards right and exploited the public sentiment against his legal challenges.

Amidst these revelations, Karl also highlights the strained relationships in Trump's inner circle. One instance involves Hope Hicks, a former top adviser in Trump's White House, who expressed her hope that Trump would read her closed-door testimony transcript regarding the investigation into the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol. Hicks reportedly stated that if Trump did read it, he would no longer want to communicate with her.

The book further features an intriguing anecdote involving a conversation between Trump and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Trump claimed that Merkel had praised him for drawing large crowds at his rallies and mentioned that there was only one other political leader who had managed to rally such massive support. The identity of the leader was left unknown, leaving those present to ponder whether Trump was aware of whom Merkel was referring to.

As "Tired of Winning" uncovers these captivating details, it offers readers a deeper understanding of Donald Trump's reactions, relationships, and political maneuvers.
