During a press conference on Thursday morning, Governor DeSantis declared that he will be sending a battalion of up to 1,000 soldiers from the Florida National Guard to assist in securing Texas' border.

To kickstart the support, an initial contingent of 100 troops will be deployed, with more expected to follow. Standing in front of the Florida National Guard members and a sign that boldly stated "stop the invasion," Governor DeSantis reaffirmed the urgency to bring an end to this ongoing challenge at the southern border.

Marking a significant event, the deployment of troops from the Florida State Guard will occur for the first time outside of their home state. This demonstrates the willingness of multiple states to unite in their commitment to address the issue of illegal immigration effectively.

During the press conference, Governor DeSantis expressed his frustration with the Biden administration's handling of border security, claiming that while President Biden possesses the authority to close the border, he lacks the resolve and vision to tackle the problem head-on. Governor DeSantis urged the administration to acknowledge the severity of the situation and prioritize the safety and security of the American people.

Governor Abbott's fight against the Biden administration's immigration policies has seen legal battles unfold on multiple fronts. The federal government has threatened legal action regarding Texas' seizure of Shelby Park near Eagle Pass. Legal disputes also continue regarding the cutting of razor wire installed by Texas and the establishment of buoys in the Rio Grande. The recent Supreme Court ruling in favor of the administration has allowed border agents to continue cutting border wire set up by Texas along the border. Texas has shared images this week showcasing the reinforcement of physical barriers along Eagle Pass.

In addition, the administration has filed a lawsuit against Texas over a recently enacted law that grants state and local officials the authority to arrest illegal immigrants. The Biden administration contends that Texas is interfering with federal control over immigration and border security, putting both agents and migrants at risk. Governor Abbott, on the other hand, highlights constitutional language that stipulates the federal government should protect each state against invasion. Citing the right of states to defend their own borders, Governor Abbott invokes Article 1, claiming that the "right of self-defense" supersedes any conflicting federal statutes.

Addressing concerns on social media, Governor DeSantis emphasized that if the Constitution had rendered states powerless to defend themselves against an invasion, Texas would not have joined the union. He further asserted that the supreme law of the land supports states in safeguarding their sovereignty.

With over a dozen states expressing support for Governor Abbott's agenda on illegal immigration, promising to provide resources to secure the border, the combined efforts of Florida and other states aim to address the record levels of illegal immigration and ensure the safety and security of American citizens.
