In a scathing report released by the House ethics committee, substantial evidence of lawbreaking has been found against Republican Congressman George Santos, raising the possibility of his expulsion from Congress. The findings have prompted a resolution for his expulsion to be introduced by the committee's chair, Michael Guest.

Despite facing these damning allegations, Santos delivered a defiant speech on Friday, taunting and using obscenities against his fellow congressional colleagues. While he asserted that he was "not going anywhere," the embattled representative hinted that his time in Congress may be coming to an end.

Support for Santos' expulsion has gained traction among his formerly opposed colleagues. The committee's months-long investigation into various alleged misconduct committed by Santos revealed that he had misused campaign funds for personal expenses, including luxury retail purchases and visits to adult content websites. Furthermore, he was found to have provided false or incomplete reports regarding these expenditures.

Investigators criticized Santos for attempting to exploit his House candidacy for personal financial gain, stating that he "sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect" of his campaign. Additionally, they noted his lack of cooperation with the report, highlighting his repeated evasion of straightforward requests for information.

During his livestreamed address, Santos refrained from addressing the specific allegations outlined in the report. He denounced them as "slanderous" and claimed they were designed to forcefully remove him from his position. Santos declined to mount a defense, citing concerns that any statements he made could be used against him in an ongoing criminal case brought by federal prosecutors.

Taking a reflective tone, Santos chronicled his journey from being a Republican "It girl" to what he referred to as "the Mary Magdalene of the United States Congress." He vehemently criticized his congressional colleagues, accusing them of engaging in misconduct, including voting while intoxicated, a behavior he regarded as far worse than anything he had allegedly done.

The resolution for Santos' expulsion is expected to be addressed by the House ethics committee upon their return from the Thanksgiving break. As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how his colleagues will ultimately decide his fate in Congress.
