GEORGETOWN, Texas - A mesmerizing display of lights in the skies of Georgetown this December has left residents questioning the possibility of extraterrestrial presence. However, contrary to popular belief, the captivating lights are not of alien origin but the result of one man's passion for Christmas.

Chris Hartgraves, the man behind the elaborate light show, has been planning and saving up his vacation time for this annual event since last year's Christmas season. Thousands of individually controlled lights are meticulously synchronized by Hartgraves, who describes himself as a self-professed "Christmas nerd."

Starting the preparations in his own garage, Hartgraves builds most of the Christmas decorations himself and even taught himself how to program his home's light show using computer software. By creating a digital replica of his house on his computer, he can visualize the light show in real-time.

Neighbor Kay Hood expressed her excitement about the ever-changing show, saying, "Every week, it's a different show. On the Facebook page, people are wondering what are these things that I can see from, you know, H-E-B or down the street, and everybody's commenting that it's Chris again, doing his light show."

The extravagant light display has garnered attention beyond the neighborhood, stirring theories of extraterrestrial activity and even prompting calls to the police. Hartgraves found himself explaining to law enforcement that he was not intentionally causing a disturbance for aircraft.

"I invited them to stick around and watch the show, which they did, which was pretty cool," Hartgraves chuckled.

The light show also features a talking tree and light bulb animations that represent Hartgraves' family, making the display even more personal. Voices of Hartgraves, his wife, and their two daughters are recorded and synchronized with the animations.

Reflecting on his motivation for the elaborate Christmas display, Hartgraves explained, "I grew up in apartments, so I'd never had a house to decorate for Christmas. I didn't want the same experience for my kids growing up. Selfishly, I've given myself those memories too."

The incredible light show runs every evening, but the highlighted performances take place every Friday through Sunday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Shows last 15 minutes and are open to the public, free of charge.

According to Hartgraves, the final show of the season will be on Christmas Eve. Already, hundreds of people have flocked to witness the remarkable spectacle, leaving with their spirits uplifted and filled with the joyous Christmas spirit.

Despite the initial confusion and the mistaken rumors of aliens, Hartgraves' light show has proven to be a delight for the community, spreading holiday cheer and bringing smiles to all who witness it.
