Deadly Shooting in Ybor City Leaves Two Dead and 16 Injured

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Shocking videos have emerged on social media, shedding light on the tragic events that unfolded during a mass shooting in Ybor City on Sunday. Tampa police have confirmed that a fight between two groups escalated into a devastating display of gun violence, claiming the lives of two individuals - 14-year-old Elijah Jaquan Wilson and 20-year-old Harrison Boonstoppel.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday near the Ybor Taphouse. An eyewitness livestreamed the horrifying moment when a man pulled out a firearm, causing panic among the surrounding crowd as shots were fired. In an additional video captured by the same witness, numerous victims can be seen receiving first aid from officers amidst the chaotic aftermath.
The victims, who ranged in age from 18 to 27, suffered from gunshot wounds. Out of the 16 injured individuals, 15 were wounded by gunfire. Thankfully, most of the wounded victims have been released from the hospital, leaving five still receiving treatment. Authorities have reported that those five individuals are in stable condition and the injuries are deemed non-life-threatening.
The families of the deceased victims, grieving the unimaginable loss, publicly identified their loved ones as Elijah Jaquan Wilson and Harrison Boonstoppel. Ava Boonstoppel, Harrison's twin sister, expressed her heartbreak on Facebook, remembering her brother as a bright and humorous young man. She condemned the senseless act of gun violence that took away an innocent life and shared her anguish and disbelief over the tragedy.
Tampa police have made one arrest in connection with the shooting. 22-year-old Tyrell Stephen Phillips has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently in jail with no bond. However, detectives are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in the deadly shooting.
