In a shocking revelation, Czech police have disclosed that the student responsible for the deadly mass shooting at a Prague University on December 21 had confessed to another heinous crime just days before the rampage. According to authorities, David Kozak, who tragically took his own life following the incident, wrote a letter confessing to the murder of a 2-month-old baby and her father.
The letter was discovered at Kozak's home in the village of Hostouň, revealed police spokesman Jan Daněk. However, the contents of the document cannot be made public at this time due to the ongoing investigation into the entire incident. The shooting spree claimed the lives of 14 innocent individuals and left 25 others injured.
Prior to the mass shooting, Kozak had already been identified as a suspect in the double murders of the 32-year-old father and his infant daughter. Police chief Martin Vondrasek emphasized that the authorities are taking Kozak's involvement in the killings "very seriously."
The bodies of the victims, who seemed to have been targeted randomly, were found in the Klánovický les National Forest on December 15, less than a week before Kozak's deadly attack at Charles University in central Prague.
Authorities had received a tip that Kozak was headed to Prague with the intention of taking his own life. They arrived at the university campus just two minutes after the initial reports of an active shooter. It was later discovered that Kozak had carried a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition into the school's faculty of arts building, where the massacre took place.
Eyewitnesses reported that Kozak, armed with an AR-15, shouted about having killed his father earlier that morning as he stormed into the building. Subsequently, his father's body was found in the shooter's hometown, leading investigators to believe that he was killed the night before.
The devastating incident prompted the Czech government to declare December 23 as a national day of mourning. This tragic mass shooting stands as the deadliest in the country's history, leaving the Czech nation in mourning and seeking answers as to how such a horrific event could occur.
As the investigation continues, authorities are piecing together the events leading up to the shooting and examining Kozak's motives for his deadly actions. The confession in the letter regarding the additional murders adds a harrowing and disturbing twist to an already devastating tragedy.
