Country music star Chris Young found himself in legal trouble after an altercation at a Nashville bar on Monday night. Young, known for hits like "Gettin' You Home" and "I'm Comin' Over," was charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest. However, his attorney is now demanding that the charges be dropped and an apology be issued by the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC).
Attorney Bill Ramsey, representing Chris Young, released a statement expressing his outrage over the incident. He argued that Young should never have been arrested or charged in the first place and insisted that the video evidence supports their case. Ramsey called for the charges to be dropped and criticized the ABC for the physical, emotional, and professional harm inflicted upon his client.
According to the arrest affidavit, ABC agents were conducting a compliance check at Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street around 8:30 p.m. when they encountered Young sitting at the bar. After checking his identification, Young allegedly followed the agents and began recording them, asking questions along the way.
The agents proceeded to move on to the Dawg House next door, with Young and his group of friends in tow. At the Dawg House, Young reportedly engaged in conversations with the patrons and the bartender. However, tensions escalated when Young allegedly stopped the agents from leaving by placing his hand on one of the agent's shoulder.
In the video footage, it appears that the agent responded by pushing Young forcefully, almost causing him to fall. This action led to a hostile environment in the bar, requiring two agents to physically restrain Young. The arrest affidavit stated that Young had bloodshot and watery eyes, as well as slurred speech at the time of the incident.
Young has since been released from custody, but the controversy surrounding his arrest continues to brew. With the video evidence at the center of attention, Ramsey is asserting that the charges against Young should be dropped immediately, emphasizing the impact this incident has had on his client personally and professionally.
The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission has yet to respond to the attorney's statement and demands for an apology. As the legal proceedings unfold, fans and industry peers will surely be closely following the developments surrounding this incident in support of Chris Young.
