In a shocking turn of events, Ryan Fournier, the co-founder of Students for Trump, was arrested last week on domestic violence charges in North Carolina, according to court documents. The 27-year-old was taken into custody on Tuesday and stands accused of assaulting a woman, identified as his girlfriend, in a disturbing incident.
According to an order issued by a magistrate in Johnston County, Fournier allegedly grabbed his girlfriend's right arm and struck her in the forehead with a handgun. This alarming act of violence has raised concerns about the behavior of a prominent figure in the Trump supporters' group.
Despite the charges against him, Fournier continues to lead the Students for Trump group. Additionally, he also runs Radical Alert, which claims to expose the hate of radicals on American college campuses and boasts an impressive following of 1 million on Twitter.
Prior to his recent arrest, Fournier gained recognition for his efforts to mobilize support for Donald Trump during the 2016 election. While still a student at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, he orchestrated a national campaign to encourage student voter turnout.
In an interview with the Raleigh News & Observer just months before Trump's election win, Fournier expressed his excitement about the historic campaign cycle and his direct interactions with Trump. He described the President as a "great guy, very humble," indicating the close relationship he seemed to have with the Commander-in-Chief.
The charges against Fournier include domestic assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon. Thankfully, the victim only suffered minor injuries, as reported by the police. Fournier was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18th to address the serious allegations against him.
This news has undoubtedly brought attention to the behavior of figures within the supporters' group and raises questions about the ideology and actions of those involved. As Fournier awaits his court appearance, the public will be closely following the developments of this case, hoping for justice and a swift resolution.
