In an exclusive report, it has been revealed that a senior BBC schedule co-ordinator, Dawn Queva, has been called out for a series of antisemitic Facebook posts. These posts include references to the "holohoax" and the promotion of extreme conspiracy theories. Queva, who works as a Senior Scheduling Co-ordinator & Playout Planner at BBC Three, has not yet taken down the offensive posts.
The BBC has been made aware of these posts and has informed Queva's line manager about the issue. While not speaking directly about Queva, the BBC stated that it does not tolerate any form of abuse, including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. The organization takes such allegations seriously and will take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
Queva's Facebook posts, which have garnered attention for their rambling and vitriolic nature, contain derogatory comments about Jewish people. She refers to them as "AshkeNazis," using a play on the word 'ashkenazi,' which describes Jews of Central or Eastern European descent. In one of the posts, Queva claims that Jewish people have no historical blood connection to Palestine or Israel. Another post refers to Jewish people as a "subcontinental Caucasian invader coloniser species with zero indigenous/blood." Additionally, Queva invokes the Rothschild conspiracy theory and refers to the Holocaust as the "holohoax."
These disturbing posts have been retweeting videos that tap into various conspiracy theories. Queva posts under the name Dawn Las Quevas-Allen on Facebook, confirming her identity as the same person who works for the BBC. Prior to her role at the BBC, Queva held positions in scheduling at A+E Networks, UKTV, and Disney.
These antisemitic posts have caused alarm within WhatsApp groups, particularly since the October 7 Hamas attack. The ongoing Israel-Hamas War has been a contentious issue within the BBC, leading to internal unrest over perceived bias in the broadcaster's coverage. Deadline previously reported that Director General Tim Davie conducted "listening meetings" with staff to address these concerns. Notably, earlier this week, it was revealed that an Apprentice contestant received diversity training after making social media posts that included derogatory comments about Zionists.
In response to the investigation, a BBC spokeswoman reiterated the organization's stance against any form of abuse, emphasizing that they take allegations of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, or any other abuse seriously. The BBC maintains well-established and robust procedures to handle such issues.
Deadline has reached out to Queva for comment on the matter, but there has been no response yet.
It is crucial for organizations to address and take strong actions against any form of hate speech or discriminatory behavior. The investigation into Queva's offensive Facebook posts demonstrates that the BBC is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for its staff and audience.
