The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed the arrests on Monday morning, although details about the individuals taken into custody were not immediately available. A news conference has been scheduled for 5 p.m. to provide further information.

The grim discovery of the six bodies was made near Highway 395 in El Mirage, approximately 35 miles east of Lancaster in the Mojave Desert. The area where the bodies were found remained cordoned off by yellow crime scene tape for several hours. The bodies were located on or near a dirt road, and two vehicles - a silver minivan and a dark blue SUV - were present at the scene. Both vehicles exhibited shattered windows, and evidence markers were placed nearby.

Authorities were initially alerted to the situation when they received a request for a wellness check at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Late last week, investigators confirmed that all six individuals were victims of homicide. However, their identities, including sex and age, as well as the cause of their deaths, have not yet been disclosed. While authorities did not confirm if the victims had been shot, at least one of the vehicles displayed signs of bullet holes.

During a news conference, Mara Rodriguez, the public information officer for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, emphasized that the investigation solely revolves around the El Mirage scene. Rodriguez expressed deep concern for the situation, stating, "It's going to be heartbreaking no matter what they discover out there as far as the circumstances, so our investigators will do their best to wrap this up quickly and get all the info possible to bring justice to those folks out there."

The community eagerly awaits further updates during the news conference scheduled for later today, as more information is hoped to shed light on the identities of the victims, the arrests made, and the overall progress of the investigation.
