Police have made a significant breakthrough in the ongoing manhunt for 17-year-old murder suspect Shane Pryor, who escaped from a hospital parking lot earlier this week. Authorities have arrested the alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Michael Diggs, who now faces multiple felony charges.

Pryor had been in custody for a 2020 fatal shooting and was being treated at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for a hand injury when he managed to flee on foot in the emergency room parking lot. Despite his escape, Pryor was captured on surveillance footage entering a hospital building, where he unsuccessfully attempted to borrow an employee's cellphone.

However, Pryor was able to use a civilian's phone to call Diggs, who then arrived in a cream-colored Ford Fusion and picked up Pryor around 12:30 p.m. The two were last seen in the vehicle between 1:15 and 2 p.m. at an intersection in North Philadelphia. Later that day, officers from the Philadelphia Highway Patrol located the Ford Fusion in the city's East Germantown neighborhood and detained Diggs for questioning.

Diggs has since been charged with hindering apprehension, escape, use of a communication facility, and criminal conspiracy related to Pryor's escape. The Philadelphia Police Department announced these charges on Friday, emphasizing that his arrest is a crucial step in bringing all involved parties to justice. No information regarding Diggs' attorney was immediately available.

As for Pryor, he remains at large and is still believed to be in Philadelphia. The U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to his arrest. Officers are confident they will apprehend Pryor, with Deputy Rob Clark stating, "I'm extremely confident we're going to find him, it's just a matter of when."

Pryor's escape has intensified concerns surrounding the case he was originally held for. In connection with the shooting death of Tanya Harris in October 2020, Pryor had been in custody since his arrest and was awaiting trial. However, in December 2023, the courts decided to try him as an adult.

While Pryor's defense attorney, Paul DiMaio, maintains his client's innocence, Clark disagrees, asserting that flight is indicative of guilt. Clark warned, "This desperation can lead to further crimes being committed to aid his flight, and this would be detrimental to his future court cases."

Pryor is described as a 5-foot-7, 180-pound Black male with a light complexion. His clothing since the escape is unknown, but he is believed to have an injured hand. Authorities stress that Pryor is considered dangerous, and anyone with information is urged to call 911 rather than approach him.
