Yankees' highly touted prospect, Jasson Domínguez, has been placed on the 7-day Minor League injured list after feeling a tweak near his left oblique. The injury occurred during a checked swing while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Domínguez would undergo testing to determine the severity of the injury.

Dubbed "The Martian," the 21-year-old outfielder recently made a return from rehab following surgery on his right ulnar collateral ligament, which was performed last September. Domínguez had completed a successful Minor League rehab assignment and was optioned to Triple-A on June 12, where he was expected to continue his development while awaiting an opportunity at the big league level.

In his 23 games in the Minor Leagues this season, playing for Single-A Tampa, Double-A Somerset, and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Domínguez showcased his talent with an impressive .356 batting average, accumulating 31 hits in 87 at-bats. He also recorded four doubles, six home runs, and 13 RBIs.

At the Triple-A level, Domínguez was putting up exceptional numbers, batting a remarkable .389/.405/.639 in nine games. However, his performance was cut short on Saturday when he left the game in the seventh inning for a defensive replacement. Manager Aaron Boone revealed that it was after an awkward checked swing that Domínguez felt discomfort.

Despite Domínguez's promising performance, the Yankees currently see no clear path to promote him to the Major Leagues. The outfield positions are already filled by Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Alex Verdugo, while Giancarlo Stanton remains the designated hitter. Additionally, the team has Trent Grisham as a reserve player on the bench, making Domínguez's inclusion in the big league roster challenging at this time.

The severity of Domínguez's left oblique injury is yet to be determined, and the Yankees' medical team will take the necessary steps to assess the extent of the damage. The fans and the organization eagerly await updates on the young prospect's recovery as he aims to make his mark in the majors once he's fully healthy.
