Less than a week after completing his rehab assignment following Tommy John surgery, Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees' highly regarded outfield prospect, finds himself back on the injured list. The 21-year-old has suffered an undisclosed injury and was placed on the injured list while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Dominguez played six innings in center field on Saturday, where he went 1-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts and a stolen base before being removed from the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Yankees had recently reinstated Dominguez from the 60-day injured list and sent him down to Triple-A to gain more playing time and regain his form following his surgery in September.

Manager Aaron Boone had expressed confidence in Dominguez's ability to contribute to the Yankees' lineup when needed, but a lack of available spots for him to earn regular at-bats in the Major Leagues necessitated his time in the minors. However, his return to the injured list is a setback to his progress.

This setback comes as the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate is also dealing with the loss of another outfielder, Everson Pereira, who underwent season-ending internal brace surgery to repair a torn UCL. Dominguez and Pereira are the only two outfielders on the 40-man roster who are not currently with the big-league team.

While playing in the minor leagues this season, Dominguez has been in impressive form, recording a batting average of .356, a 1.014 OPS, six home runs, and three stolen bases across 23 games. Saturday marked his seventh consecutive game playing center field, as the Yankees had been gradually reintroducing him to defensive duties.

The Yankees will undoubtedly hope for a speedy recovery for Dominguez, as they continue to monitor his progress and eagerly await the opportunity to add his talents to their Major League lineup.
