The New York Yankees have announced several roster moves, including placing infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the injured list and designating right-hander Enyel De Los Santos for assignment. The moves come as the team gears up for a series against the Chicago White Sox.

Chisholm, who recently joined the Yankees via a trade, has been diagnosed with a left elbow sprain. The severity of the injury is still being evaluated, and the team is seeking opinions from doctors to determine if surgery will be necessary. The exact timeline for his recovery remains uncertain at this point.

The decision to cut ties with De Los Santos came as somewhat of a surprise, considering he was acquired by the Yankees just over two weeks ago from the San Diego Padres along with a minor league reliever in exchange for outfielder Brandon Lockridge. However, his recent performance with the team has been less than impressive. In five appearances with the Yankees, De Los Santos surrendered 10 runs in 6 1/3 innings, including seven runs in 1 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Monday night.

To make room for Warren's spot start against the White Sox, the Yankees had to designate a pitcher, leading to the departure of De Los Santos. It's possible that Warren may return to Triple-A after his start, with reliever Scott Effross potentially joining the team on Friday in Detroit.

In addition to these moves, the Yankees have called up Will Warren and Oswald Peraza to replace Chisholm on the roster. Peraza, known for his defensive skills, could provide depth at third base alongside Oswaldo Cabrera and DJ LeMahieu during Chisholm's absence. Although Peraza has struggled offensively in the big leagues, he has been heating up at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre recently. Over his last 35 games, he has batted .303 with a .914 OPS and hit seven home runs.

During his 52-game stint with the Yankees this season, Peraza primarily played at third base, showcasing his defensive abilities. However, his offensive performance left something to be desired, as he batted .191 with a .539 OPS in 191 plate appearances.

As the Yankees navigate these roster changes, they aim to maintain their competitive edge and continue their pursuit of success in the upcoming series against the White Sox. Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on Chisholm's injury and the potential impact of Peraza's addition to the team.
