In a tragic incident, a driver was shot and killed by a Wright County deputy during a traffic stop in St. Michael early Saturday morning. The incident took place at approximately 4:47 a.m. on Ivory Avenue Northeast, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

According to officials, the driver exited their vehicle with a weapon and confronted the deputy, refusing to comply with their demands. The deputy, in response to the threat, discharged their firearm, striking the driver. Immediate life-saving measures were attempted by deputies on the scene before paramedics arrived. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It has been confirmed that the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
