In a tough blow for the Wisconsin Badgers, starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke suffered an apparent right knee/leg injury during Saturday's game against No. 4 Alabama. The transfer from Miami went down on the opening drive of the game, after scrambling for 5 yards along the Wisconsin sideline. Van Dyke's right knee appeared to buckle, and he was unable to put any weight on his leg as he was taken to the injury tent and later carted to the locker room.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound senior had previously dealt with a right knee lesion last year during a game against North Carolina. Despite the setback, Van Dyke was able to return later in the season for Miami. Unfortunately, injuries have been a recurring issue for Van Dyke, as he missed parts of six games during his time at Miami in 2022.

Prior to his injury against Alabama, Van Dyke had been putting up impressive numbers for the Badgers. In his first two starts at Wisconsin, he had amassed 406 passing yards with a touchdown and no interceptions, completing 60.3% of his passes. The game against Alabama started promisingly for Van Dyke, as he completed his first five pass attempts for 16 yards before getting injured.

With Van Dyke out of the game, backup quarterback Braedyn Locke stepped in to lead the Badgers' offense. Locke had competed with Van Dyke during training camp, and now he will have the opportunity to showcase his skills on the field.

The loss of Van Dyke is undoubtedly a major setback for Wisconsin, as they face the formidable Alabama team. The team and fans will be hoping for the best for Van Dyke as he undergoes further evaluation and treatment for his injury.

It remains to be seen how long Van Dyke will be out of action and how this injury will impact the Badgers moving forward. But one thing is for certain - the Wisconsin football community will rally behind their injured quarterback and support him on his road to recovery.
