**Wienerschnitzel to Launch in Walmart Stores Across Six States**
This fall, hot dog enthusiasts have something new to look forward to as the beloved chain Wienerschnitzel prepares to open in select Walmart locations. The expansion will see new restaurants in six states: Alamogordo, New Mexico; Bakersfield, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Reno, Nevada; Tempe, Arizona; and Puyallup, Washington. This marks a significant growth strategy for the chain known for its unique take on the hot dog experience.
Shak Turner, Wienerschnitzel's new Director of Franchise Expansion, highlighted the significance of this development. "Wienerschnitzel has spent decades building a strong reputation, especially on the West Coast, and this expansion into Walmart stores signifies a new era of growth for the brand," Turner remarked. He emphasized how the chain fills a niche for multi-brand franchisees aiming to diversify their portfolios, which was a key factor in his decision to join the brand. Turner is enthusiastic about steering new initiatives and partnerships that are expected to propel Wienerschnitzel into fresh markets.
The Walmart locations will offer Wienerschnitzel’s full menu, featuring popular items such as the Chili Cheese Dog, Junkyard Dog, chili cheese fries, jalapeño poppers, and Tastee Freez soft serve desserts. By adding these menu options, Wienerschnitzel aims to provide a comprehensive dining experience within Walmart stores.
This move follows Wienerschnitzel's strategy of experimenting with unusual locations to broaden its reach. The chain, which was founded in 1961 by John Galardi, has already explored settings like airports, military bases, theme parks, food courts, and convenience stores. Currently, the chain operates 340 franchised locations across 13 states and has over 50 new units in various stages of development throughout the U.S.
Wienerschnitzel isn’t the first brand to collaborate with Walmart on unique in-store dining options. In 2024, Walmart introduced Uncle Sharkii Poke Bar in its stores, a concept featuring Hawaiian poke dishes. This trend underscores Walmart’s ongoing efforts to provide diverse and exciting food choices to its customers.
Overall, the integration of Wienerschnitzel into Walmart locations is poised to bring a popular and distinctive food option to more people, marking another innovative chapter for both brands.
