Portland, known for its vibrant culture and coastal charm, scored well in these categories, securing its position as the 40th best retirement city in the U.S. Lewiston, located on the banks of the Androscoggin River, also received a respectable ranking of 119th.

Manchester, New Hampshire, followed at 75th, while Boston, Massachusetts, landed at 94th. New Haven, Connecticut, made an appearance at 131st, and South Burlington and Burlington, Vermont, secured rankings of 142nd and 143rd respectively. Providence, Rhode Island, also made the cut at 148th, with Worcester, Massachusetts, at 158th. Warwick, Rhode Island, was listed at 169th, and Bridgeport, Connecticut, rounded off the New England presence at 175th.
