Title: US Government Executes Massive Bitcoin Transfers Valued at $923 Million, Fueling Speculation of National BTC Accumulation
Reports from the blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence have revealed that the United States Government recently conducted significant Bitcoin transactions, moving a total of 15,085 BTC valued at approximately $923 million. The transactions stemmed from funds seized by the government from Bitfinex in 2016 following a hack and were executed from two separate wallet addresses in four distinctive transfers within less than a day.
Presently, the US government holds more than 200,000 BTC worth $12.50 billion, according to Arkham Intelligence, making it the largest asset in their portfolio. Additionally, the government possesses over 56,000 ETH and other notable cryptocurrencies like AUSDC, USDC, and DAI, totaling approximately $12.73 billion in crypto holdings.
Whistleblower Edward Snowden raised eyebrows in the crypto community by predicting that "a national government" is involved in accumulating Bitcoin for an extended period. Snowden suggested that within the year, this government would reveal its Bitcoin acquisitions as a substitute for traditional gold reserves. However, Snowden didn't disclose the specific nation undertaking this approach, leaving speculation and curiosity among industry observers.
The price of Bitcoin currently stands at $62,472 according to the BTCUSDT pair on Tradingview.com, as the digital asset continues to surge in value amidst the backdrop of the US government's notable Bitcoin movements.
