In a major development, an urgent recall has been issued for nearly 22 million Miniverse toy sets due to serious safety risks. The popular toys, sold at various retailers including Walmart, Target, Dollar General, and online platforms like Amazon.com, have been found to pose a threat of skin burns, skin irritation, and breathing problems.

The recall applies to the Make it Mini sets within the Miniverse collection, which contain liquid resins that can cause injuries to both children and adults. These resins are used by children to create mini versions of everyday items to accompany their dolls. While the resin is harmless in its solid state, its liquid form has proven to be hazardous.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) discovered that the liquid resins in these sets contain banned levels of chemicals called 'acrylates', which can lead to skin burns and irritation. Makers of the toy, MGA Entertainment, have received 26 reports of such injuries, along with respiratory problems and even a case of asthma being triggered.

The recall affects 38 Miniverse Make It Mini sets that still have unused liquid resins. This includes various models and series such as 'Make It Mini Appliances', 'Make It Mini Food', and 'Make It Mini Lifestyle'. The complete list can be found on MGA Entertainment's website.

To ensure the safety of consumers, MGA Entertainment is offering a solution for those who possess the recalled toys. Customers are advised to contact the company to obtain a pre-paid label. They can then choose to either return the entire product if it remains unopened or return the unused resins along with a photograph of the toy if it has been opened. In return, customers will have the option to receive a full refund or a replacement.

It is important to note that the packaging of the resin may resemble common food items like a peanut butter jar, maple syrup, or milk container. This deceptive packaging may confuse children and further increase the risk of ingestion or contact with the harmful liquid resin.

These Miniverse toys, manufactured in China, were available for purchase from October 2022 through June 2024 at various national retailers, including Target, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Aldi, Hobby Lobby, as well as online via Amazon.com.

Concerned consumers can reach out to MGA Entertainment for further assistance at (800) 222-4685 during specific business hours or contact them via email or their online customer care platform.

With this urgent recall, it is crucial for anyone who owns these Miniverse Make it Mini sets to act promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of themselves and their children.
