Flight 262, a Boeing 787 aircraft, departed from Denver International Airport with its destination set for London's Heathrow Airport.

The crew of the flight notified the FAA about the cracked windshield, prompting the decision to divert the aircraft to O'Hare. The FAA explained that the windshield is constructed with multiple layers of tempered glass and other materials, ensuring the safety and integrity of the aircraft's front-facing structure.

The United Airlines flight safely landed at Chicago O'Hare International Airport around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, where the passengers were accommodated until further arrangements were made. No major injuries were reported during the incident, and the FAA has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the cracked windshield.

This diversion was the first of two aviation incidents that occurred overnight at O'Hare International Airport. The second incident involved a Frontier Airlines plane that was evacuated on Monday morning due to reports of smoke in the cockpit, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported in either incident.

The FAA will be conducting a thorough investigation into both incidents to ensure the safety and security of future flights originating from O'Hare International Airport. Passengers are urged to check with their respective airlines for any potential changes or delays to their travel plans.

As of now, United Airlines is working diligently to resolve the issue with the cracked windshield and make necessary repairs before the aircraft can resume its journey to London.
