### Boeing Workers Reject Latest Contract Proposal, Prolonging Strike
Union machinists at Boeing have voted against the latest contract offer from the aerospace giant, opting to extend their six-week strike. The ongoing labor dispute continues to impede the production of Boeing’s popular jetliners.
Since the start of the strike last month, factory workers have consistently voiced a primary demand: the reinstatement of their pension plans. These traditional pension plans were halted a decade ago, a decision made under pressure as part of a narrowly-approved agreement by union members. This was done in an effort to secure the production of Boeing's airplane models in the Seattle area.
Boeing’s justification for freezing the pension plan at that time was rooted in financial concern, emphasizing that the growing pension obligations risked the company’s long-term fiscal stability. Despite this reasoning, the move has had significant financial consequences for Boeing over the years, complicating their relationship with the workforce.
