Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has shared a video featuring Ukrainian pilots preparing for training on F-16 fighter jets in Denmark. The video showcases the preparation of the pilots on Lockheed Martin-made aircraft, which are expected to be used by Kyiv forces in the ongoing war against Russia. Denmark and the Netherlands have committed to donating a total of 61 F-16s to Ukraine, with the first Danish F-16 fighter jets anticipated to be handed over this summer. Belgium plans to transfer F-16s to Ukraine in 2025, while Norway has also confirmed its intention to supply F-16s in the near future. Zelensky expressed excitement for the day when the Ukrainian F-16s will be deployed to strengthen the defense of cities and communities, stating that the pilots' training is in its final stages. The video, which went viral, shows how the F-16 aircraft is being serviced and taking off, with one pilot remarking on the jet's agility compared to the Soviet-era MiGs. The F-16s are seen as a vital asset in keeping Russian aviation away from Ukraine's borders as the conflict with Russia enters its third year.
