In a recent development amidst the escalating conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Ukraine hinted on Monday that its agents may have been responsible for an explosion on a Russian railway bridge used to transport ammunition. This incident marks the latest operation targeting infrastructure deep behind enemy lines, as Ukrainian forces continue to struggle against advancing Russian troops.

The explosion took place on a railway bridge in Russia's Samara region, approximately 650 miles from the Ukrainian border, at around 6 a.m. local time. The Ukrainian military intelligence agency, GUR, stated on the Telegram social media app that the bridge would be rendered unusable in the coming weeks. While the GUR did not explicitly claim responsibility, Ukraine's security services have previously targeted military rail routes in Russia, using hybrid warfare tactics as Russia takes the offensive initiative along the front line in Ukraine.

According to Ukrainian intelligence officials, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was responsible for explosions on railway links between Russia and North Korea in the Buryatia region, located around 3,750 miles east of Ukraine. These actions have been deemed legitimate military objectives by experts, aimed at impeding Russia's ability to create, provide, and use an amassing of troops.
