Police in Pueblo, Colorado, have arrested Jesus Dominguez and Corena Rose Minjarez in connection with the deaths of two children, Jesus Dominguez Jr. and Yesenia Dominguez. The suspects are facing two counts each of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse. The grim discovery of Yesenia's body was made last month after police responded to a report of suspicious activity. The remains of the children were found in a concrete-filled container and a suitcase in a car's trunk.
The children, who were last seen in the summer of 2018 when Jesus was 5 and Yesenia was 3, were not reported missing until recently. Jesus Dominguez is the father of the children, and he is in a relationship with Minjarez. A DNA test confirmed the identities of the children, leading to arrest warrants being issued for the suspects.
During the investigation, police found a metal container with hardened concrete in a storage unit containing Yesenia's body. The body of Jesus was discovered in a suitcase in a car belonging to Minjarez, which was found in a scrap yard. The suspects had not been named in a previous news release, but became persons of interest as the investigation unfolded.
No missing person's report had been filed regarding the children until the recent investigation began. The arrests of Dominguez and Minjarez came after police sought the public's help in the case, leading to the closure of the tragic investigation.
