Pueblo Police Department recently made a breakthrough in a chilling cold case involving the murders of two missing children who had been unaccounted for over five years. Jesus Dominguez, 35, was taken into custody as a suspect in the deaths of Yesenia Dominguez and Jesus Dominguez, Jr. As the investigation unfolded in January, law enforcement discovered the remains of the children - one encased in concrete in a storage unit and the other placed in a suitcase in the trunk of a scrapped car.

Further developments in the case revealed that no missing person reports had ever been filed for Yesenia Dominguez or Jesus Dominguez Jr. Authorities were unaware of their disappearance until January 20, 2024. Yesenia was last seen at around 3 years old, while Jesus was approximately 5 years old before they vanished. The suspects, Jesus Dominguez and Corena Rose Minjarez, both 36, were identified as persons of interest during the late January interviews.

DNA confirmation received on February 15 linked the remains found to the missing children, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for Minjarez and Dominguez on charges including First Degree Murder and Abuse of a Corpse. Minjarez was swiftly apprehended upon the warrant being released on Thursday, with Dominguez being located and taken into police custody on Saturday.

Minjarez and Dominguez are currently detained at the Pueblo County Detention Center on a $2 million bond each. The community played a crucial role in assisting law enforcement in locating Dominguez, paving the way for further progress in this tragic case.
