In a disappointing turn of events for the Minnesota Twins, their star shortstop Carlos Correa has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to plantar fasciitis. The decision comes after Correa received a platelet-rich plasma treatment in his right heel, with the team ordering him to stay off his feet.

The move is retroactive to Tuesday, indicating that the Twins are hopeful that Correa's absence will not be prolonged. However, the exact duration of his recovery has not been determined yet. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated, "Once he starts baseball activity, then we'll have a timeline. We don't think it's going to be several weeks to a month. We think it's going to be shorter than that. But we don't have anything specific."

Correa, who missed his first game the previous Saturday, discovered that he was dealing with plantar fasciitis once again, albeit in the opposite foot from last season. An MRI confirmed that the current case is not as severe. Initially, Correa believed that he would be ready to play in Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers after an eight-day rest period. However, the team decided that a platelet-rich plasma injection was the best course of action, necessitating a mandatory rest period.

The absence of Correa was felt by the Twins in Saturday's 12-inning loss to the Brewers. Despite an outstanding performance from pitcher Pablo López, who struck out seven and allowed only one run and four hits over seven innings, the Twins' defense struggled in Correa's absence. A missed play by second baseman Austin Martin and errors by reliever Steven Okert and third baseman Brooks Lee contributed to the Brewers' victory.

While the Twins fought hard, their inability to execute fundamental plays cost them the game. Manager Rocco Baldelli emphasized the importance of every play in the big leagues and called for better execution to achieve victory.

Both teams had difficulty scoring throughout the game, with the Brewers only managing to cash in one run against López in the third inning. López, despite not generating a high number of swings-and-misses, exhibited strong performance, limiting hard contact and effectively preventing the Brewers from mounting substantial offense.

In the meantime, the Twins will have to adjust to Correa's absence and find a suitable replacement. All-Star Willi Castro is expected to step in as the shortstop in Correa's absence, but it remains to be seen how well the team can adapt without their star player.

With the injury, Carlos Correa joins a growing list of sidelined players in MLB, highlighting the crucial role that health and injury management play in the success of a team. The Twins will be monitoring Correa's progress closely and hoping for a speedy recovery.

As the season progresses, the Minnesota Twins will undoubtedly face challenges in their quest for success without their All-Star shortstop. How long Correa will remain on the injured list and how the team will cope with his absence are questions that only time will answer.
