**Multiple Fatalities Confirmed in North Carolina Plane Crash**

A tragic airplane crash at a North Carolina airport on Saturday evening has resulted in the loss of multiple lives. The accident occurred when a single-engine Cirrus SR22 attempted to land at First Flight Airport near the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the crash took place at 5:55 p.m. local time. Witnesses reported that the plane veered into a wooded area after failing to land successfully. Shortly after the impact, the aircraft caught fire. The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department, accompanied by other local fire departments, managed to extinguish the blaze.

The National Park Service confirmed that there were multiple fatalities among the four individuals on board. The identities and conditions of the passengers have not been disclosed. The airport, situated in Kill Devil Hills approximately 90 miles south of Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been closed indefinitely, as has the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

The NTSB is spearheading the investigation into the incident with the Federal Aviation Administration also being notified. Further updates are expected as officials continue to examine the circumstances leading to the crash.
