Tragic Crash Involving School Bus Leaves Two Dead in Texas

At least two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a "major" crash that occurred on State Highway 21 West in Texas. The incident involved a school bus carrying prekindergarten children, a passenger vehicle, and a concrete truck, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office reported that the "major traffic event" took place on Friday afternoon at the intersection of State Highway 21 West and Caldwell Road. The school bus was transporting prekindergarten students from Tom Green Elementary School in Hays County, who had been on a field trip to the Bastrop Zoo.

More than 40 people were involved in the crash, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. Four individuals were being airlifted from the scene for medical treatment. The school district revealed that a total of 55 people were on the bus at the time, including 44 students and 11 adults.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased individuals, and it remains unclear if they were passengers on the bus or occupants of the other vehicles involved. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
