### Top Red Sox Prospect Anthony Hits Colossal 497-Foot Grand Slam for Worcester
Boston Red Sox fans may soon see top MLB prospect Anthony in the majors as he continues to impress at Triple-A Worcester. The 21-year-old showcased his power on Saturday with an extraordinary 497-foot grand slam, helping the WooSox secure a 10-4 victory over Rochester.
WooSox manager Chad Tracy was amazed by the sheer force behind the home run, stating, "That ball was murdered." The homer came off a 91.1 mph sinker from pitcher Carlos Romero and left Anthony's bat at a blistering 115.6 mph. The massive hit soared over the right-center field wall, extending Worcester's lead to 9-4 in the eighth inning.
Reflecting on the moment, Anthony said, "Got it and didn't really miss it. So, it felt great," according to the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester. Significantly, this 497-foot blast is the longest home run recorded in affiliated baseball this season, according to Statcast.
In the major leagues, only one home run has managed to surpass 475 feet this year—a 484-foot shot by Mike Trout against the Giants on April 19. Since Statcast began monitoring the majors in 2015, only a handful of home runs have covered greater distances than Anthony's impressive hit. Among them are Nomar Mazara's 505-foot home run in 2019, Giancarlo Stanton's 504-footer in 2016, C.J. Cron's 504-foot homer in 2022, and Christian Yelich's 499-foot blast also in 2022.
The Boston Red Sox, currently with a 31-35 record and positioned fourth in the AL East, are trailing the division-leading Yankees by 9.5 games. As the team struggles, calls for Anthony—a 2022 second-round pick—to be promoted to Boston are becoming louder. Anthony is batting .290 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 57 games this season, including two grand slams.
