### Tom Aspinall Pushes for Activity in the Heavyweight Division Amid Jon Jones' Uncertain Future

Tom Aspinall is eager to breathe new life into the heavyweight division, highlighting his ambitious plans to be highly active throughout 2025. The ongoing UFC heavyweight title saga involving Jon Jones and Aspinall might finally see some resolution, as the interim champion appears to have grown tired of waiting on Jones' return to the octagon.

Recently, Jones declared that he, Aspinall, and the UFC had an understanding that left fans hopeful for an official fight announcement. However, Aspinall is no longer content with the silence and has made a bold claim to fight twice before the end of this year.

Aspinall addressed the situation directly: "I'm sick of talking about myself. It's pretty clear to see that Jon Jones has retired; he doesn't want to fight me. We wish Jon all the best in the future, of course, but we want this heavyweight division active," he told TNT Sports. Aspinall stressed the importance of providing opportunities for contenders and maintaining an active defending champion in the heavyweight class.

The British fighter continued, "Why is this division so stagnant all the time? Let's make the heavyweight division great again and have an active defending UFC heavyweight champion, let's move on. I'm ready to fight; I want to get two fights in before the end of the year, so that's what we're doing. We finally have some movement. Jones has had a great career, I respect him, we know what he's done... Have a good life, we move on."

As for who Aspinall might face next, the number two ranked contender in the heavyweight division is Ciryl Gane. Gane has been victorious in his recent bout against Alexander Volkov. Previously, a matchup between Aspinall and Gane was proposed, but the French fighter declined, seeking a higher-ranked opponent at the time when Aspinall was ranked lower.

This decisive stand by Aspinall signals a significant shift in the heavyweight division, aiming to break the stagnation and bring excitement back to one of UFC's premier weight classes.
