### Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou Tease Potential Heavyweight Showdown
Jon Jones has been highly active on social media recently, notably sharing his eagerness for a long-discussed fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Ngannou, now a titleholder in the PFL SuperFight division, also hinted at a potential return to the UFC. According to Ngannou's head coach, Eric Nicksick, the fighter would be "100 percent" open to returning to the UFC in the future.
Ngannou left the UFC feeling mistreated and undervalued as the heavyweight champion, eventually vacating the title and opting to sign with the PFL. He has since found success both as an athlete in the PFL and as an ambassador for PFL Africa, while Jon Jones secured the vacant UFC heavyweight title. In addition to his MMA career, Ngannou has made millions competing in the boxing ring.
This past Friday, Jones tweeted that a matchup with Ngannou would reignite his competitive spirit more than a bout against interim champ Tom Aspinall would. Less than a day later, Ngannou responded with a tweet that read, "You take care of the UFC, I'll take care of the PFL, and we'll finally find out who's the KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT," along with a photo captioned, "So you're telling me there's a chance?"
Calls for a Jones-Ngannou bout surfaced multiple times after Jones vacated his UFC light heavyweight title to move up to heavyweight. However, the fight never materialized, as UFC CEO Dana White cited Jones' demanding "Deontay Wilder money" as a prohibitive factor. Despite that, PFL founder Donn Davis has expressed interest in arranging the much-anticipated clash through a co-promotion with the UFC.
Jon Jones successfully defended his title for the first time against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November. Ngannou, meanwhile, made an impressive PFL debut in October, securing a first-round TKO victory over Renan Ferreira. As the two fighters continue to dominate their respective arenas, the prospect of a Jones-Ngannou showdown remains an electrifying possibility for MMA fans worldwide.
