In a move that comes as no surprise amid Red Lobster's bankruptcy proceedings, it has been announced that three more of the seafood restaurant's locations in Virginia will be closing. This follows the closure of several other restaurants across the country, including three in the state. The additional closures are part of Red Lobster's efforts to reject leases for a minimum of 23 locations by Saturday, August 31st.

According to CNN, the three Red Lobster locations in Virginia that are set to shut down are yet to be disclosed. This comes after the company had previously announced the closure of restaurants in Colonial Heights, Williamsburg, and Newport News earlier this year.

Red Lobster's financial troubles have led to the company seeking buyers, and it is currently in the process of selling itself to Fortress Credit Corp., a company that also owns Krystal, Logan's Roadhouse, and J. Alexander's. To ensure the continuation of operations, Red Lobster received a $100 million loan from Fortress. This loan has allowed the company to keep its doors open during the bankruptcy proceedings.

CNN has reported that Damola Adamolekun, the former Chief Executive of P.F. Chang's, has been chosen by Fortress to become Red Lobster's new CEO once the bankruptcy proceedings are finalized.

Red Lobster, once considered a pioneer in the restaurant industry, has faced a combination of mismanagement, intense competition, and inflation which have contributed to its current financial struggles.

As Red Lobster moves forward with its restructuring plans, customers and employees of the affected locations will surely feel the impact. The company's focus now is on minimizing disruptions and completing the bankruptcy proceedings smoothly, while new leadership takes charge to steer Red Lobster towards a more stable future.
