### Thad Levine Departs Minnesota Twins After Eight Seasons
Thad Levine, the senior vice president and general manager of the Minnesota Twins, is stepping down from his position after eight seasons to explore new professional opportunities. The organization revealed Levine’s departure on Friday, marking the end of his significant tenure with the team.
"The time is right for me to pursue my next enriching, professional challenge," Levine expressed in a statement. He also reflected on his time with the Twins, stating, "I will forever cherish the friendships that I have made in the Minnesota Twins organization and throughout Twins Territory."
During Levine’s time with the Twins, the team experienced notable achievements. Under his leadership, the Twins secured three division titles. Additionally, they clinched their first playoff series victory since 2002 by sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card round in 2023.
Derek Falvey, the Twins President of Baseball Operations, praised Levine’s contributions, acknowledging his critical role in the organization. "Thad's impact on the Minnesota Twins cannot be overstated," Falvey remarked. "He has been a true partner and leader, always striving to elevate the organization and care for the people around him."
Despite breaking an 18-game playoff losing streak in 2023, the team faced challenges in the subsequent season. Levine and the front office did not increase the payroll for 2024, nor did they make significant moves at the trade deadline to bolster the team for a playoff run. As the season progressed, the Twins were 3.5 games behind first place in the American League Central and led the wild card race by five games entering September. However, a challenging final month saw the team post a 9-18 record, ultimately knocking them out of playoff contention by September 27.
Levine’s departure signifies a new chapter for both him and the Minnesota Twins as they look ahead to future seasons.
