In a recent development, Tesla is being sued by the family of a worker who passed away at Gigafactory Texas last week. The lawsuit alleges that the worker's cardiac event was a result of electrocution, as reported by KVUE. Shortly after the incident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) initiated an investigation into the fatality at Giga Texas.

The lawsuit, filed on Thursday by the family of Victor Gomez Sr., claims that Gomez, a contract employee and licensed electrician for Belcan, was instructed to examine electrical panels at the facility before they were supposed to be powered on. According to the suit, one of the panels had already been energized, leading to Gomez's electrocution and subsequent loss of consciousness. Gomez was quickly transported to the Dell Seton Medical Center but was tragically pronounced deceased.

The family's legal representation has taken immediate action by hiring experts to conduct an investigation at the Austin, Texas facility. They have also requested that Tesla preserve any internal and external surveillance footage, as well as the specific electric panel involved in the incident. As of now, Tesla has not responded to the family's claims.

Adam Muery, the personal injury attorney representing Gomez's family, highlighted Tesla's past approach to litigation and stated that they have a reputation for being aggressive and unlikely to settle early on in such cases. Muery explained that in order to hold Tesla accountable, it must be proven that the company was aware or should have been aware of an extreme risk but ignored it through its processes and procedures.

Tesla has yet to provide a comment on the matter, and requests for comment from Travis County have also gone unanswered as of writing. OSHA, which is currently investigating the incident, has stated that it will not release any additional information until the investigation is complete. Former OSHA inspector Rick Gleason emphasized that the focus of the probe is on management's involvement rather than the workers themselves.

This lawsuit brings to light the importance of workplace safety and the responsibilities that companies have to ensure a secure environment for their employees. As the investigation continues, the outcomes of both the legal case and the OSHA investigation will be closely watched.
