Sydney Sweeney, known for her role as Julia Cornwall, or Spider-Woman, in the Spider-Man spin-off Madame Web, remains undeterred by the film's lackluster commercial and critical performance. Despite the intense backlash and mocking response it received, Sweeney revealed in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that she is content with her decision to take the role, regardless of the outcome.

"I was just hired as an actress in it, so I was just along for the ride for whatever was going to happen," Sweeney stated, reflecting on her involvement in Madame Web. The actress expressed a willingness to embrace the criticisms and challenges that come with the territory of being part of a widely panned film.

Her nonchalant attitude towards the project was further highlighted during her recent Saturday Night Live monologue, where she humorously distanced herself from Madame Web, emphasizing her other acting accomplishments. "You definitely did not see me in Madame Web," Sweeney quipped, further indicating her detached stance towards the film.

Madame Web, featuring a trio of female Spider-Heroes, Celeste O'Connor as Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman, Isabela Merced as Anya Corazón/Spider-Girl, and Dakota Johnson in the titular role of Cassandra Webb, did show initial promise. The trailer garnered attention online, with one line of dialogue going viral. However, these efforts failed to translate into ticket sales success.

During its three-day opening weekend, Madame Web only managed to gross $17.6 million in the U.S., making it the lowest-performing opening for any Spider-Man Universe movie to date. Critics also panned the film, resulting in a disappointingly low Rotten Tomatoes score of 12%.

The negative reception of Madame Web continued to reverberate, with even Dakota Johnson expressing her lack of surprise with regards to the reaction. Johnson divulged that she would likely refrain from undertaking similar projects in the future, suggesting that her experience with the film had not lived up to expectations.

Despite Madame Web's commercial and critical setbacks, Sydney Sweeney's resilient attitude towards the film showcases her determination and resilience as an artist. With her eye on future projects, Sweeney seems poised to shake off the disappointment of Madame Web and forge ahead in her burgeoning career.

In the dynamic world of the Spider-Man Universe, Madame Web's lackluster performance serves as a reminder that even the most highly anticipated films can fall short of expectations. As for Sydney Sweeney, her ability to remain unaffected by the film's reception demonstrates an unwavering commitment to her craft and a willingness to take risks regardless of the outcome.
