### Steelers Consider Quarterback Change: Fields Reflects on Performance, Wilson Poised to Start

In a surprising turn for the Pittsburgh Steelers, quarterback Justin Fields may soon be replaced by veteran Russell Wilson, according to recent reports. Fields himself is not surprised by the potential move, candidly acknowledging his performance during interactions with the media on Thursday. As the Steelers gear up for their Week 7 clash with the Jets, Wilson has been seen taking first-team reps, potentially setting the stage for his first start in Pittsburgh.

"If I'm being real with you, I don't think I played good enough," Fields confessed, as reported by ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "If I did play well enough, I don't think there would be any question about who should be playing." Despite a solid if unspectacular showing in his first six games, Fields' own self-assessment points to areas for improvement. Over those games, Fields threw for over 240 yards on two occasions, recorded five touchdown passes, one interception, and ran for 231 yards with five rushing touchdowns. With the Steelers holding a 4-2 record, Mike Tomlin’s potential pivot to Wilson has raised eyebrows.

Meanwhile, Wilson, who has been recovering from a calf injury, praised Fields' efforts and expressed readiness to return. "First of all, Justin has done a great job," Wilson told reporters. "He’s a tremendous quarterback. As we continue through the season, our goal is always to get better and grow."

For followers of the Steelers, the team’s defense has been a consistent strong point, giving them a chance to win each week. Even with a makeshift offensive line and limited weapons, Fields managed to perform commendably, making Tomlin's desire to possibly switch quarterbacks notable. Fields himself remains pragmatic about the situation. "I want to be 6-0 right now, but it was a great opportunity for me," he said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity and we'll just see what happens."

This potential shift to Wilson marks a pivotal moment in Pittsburgh's season. The results of this decision will be closely watched, as a successful outing could validate Tomlin's choice. However, if Wilson struggles, the decision may be reconsidered, providing Fields with another opportunity. Fields is staying prepared for whatever comes his way.

"I just do my job at the end of the day, whether that's playing or supporting the guys from the sideline," Fields remarked, focusing on his team-oriented mindset and readiness to contribute in any capacity.
