### Steelers Strategically Bolster Roster with Key Trades

The Pittsburgh Steelers are aiming for a strong comeback to the Super Bowl, making significant roster changes in their pursuit. In a notable series of transactions, the Steelers secured receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets and acquired veteran pass rusher Preston Smith from the Green Bay Packers.

In the deal for Smith, the Packers received a seventh-round pick in exchange for the seasoned player. Preston Smith, a ten-year NFL veteran who was originally a second-round draft pick by Washington in 2015, had spent the last four years with the Packers after signing with them in 2019. During the current season, Smith recorded 2.5 sacks across nine starts with Green Bay.

This trade allows the Packers to give more playing time to their 2024 first-round pick, Lukas Van Ness, providing him with an opportunity to grow and develop. Meanwhile, in Pittsburgh, Smith is expected to join a talented rotation of pass rushers that includes T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, significantly enhancing the team's defensive prowess.

Smith is under contract through 2026, with a salary of $3.2 million for 2024, which will increase to $12 million the following year. The addition of Smith is a strategic move by the Steelers to strengthen their defense as they aim for another Super Bowl bid.
