In an upcoming matchup against the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin will once again face off against a rookie quarterback. With a record of 24-6 against first-year signal-callers, Tomlin is known for his success in these particular matchups. Looking back at previous seasons, we can identify the six instances where Tomlin's Steelers were defeated by rookie quarterbacks.

Last year, the Steelers stumbled twice against rookie quarterbacks. In Week 4, C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans overpoweringly defeated Pittsburgh with a final score of 30-6. Then, in Week 11, the Steelers faced an unexpected loss against Dorian Thompson-Robinson and the Cleveland Browns, with a close score of 13-10.

Taking a leap back to 2016, Tomlin faced two more losses against rookie quarterbacks. The Philadelphia Eagles, led by Carson Wentz, dismantled the Steelers in Week 3 with an impressive 34-3 victory. Later in Week 10, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys clinched a hard-fought victory against Pittsburgh, securing a 35-30 win.

In 2012, a rookie quarterback named Brandon Weeden led the Cleveland Browns to a surprising victory over the Steelers in Week 12. The final score was 20-14, signaling a rare defeat for Tomlin's team. Going even further back, in 2007, the rookie quarterback Troy Smith and the Baltimore Ravens managed to secure a Week 17 victory over Pittsburgh with a score of 27-21.

Interestingly, half of Tomlin's losses against rookie quarterbacks came at the hands of the Cleveland Browns, both in their previous and current iteration. It is worth noting that the quarterbacks responsible for these defeats did not go on to have Hall of Fame careers, with the exception of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who still has the potential to make a mark in the future.

As the Steelers prepare to face the Broncos this Sunday, Tomlin will have the opportunity to lower his success rate against rookie quarterbacks below 80 percent. However, considering the formidable performance of the Pittsburgh defense in their recent game against Atlanta, it will likely prove to be a tough challenge for Denver's rookie quarterback. Steelers fans are eager to see if Coach Tomlin can maintain his impressive track record against first-year signal-callers or if the Broncos' rookie will write a new chapter in Tomlin's career.
