### Star Wide Receiver Davante Adams Seeks Trade, Multiple NFL Teams Show Interest
As the NFL buzzes with mid-season action, all eyes are on star wide receiver Davante Adams, who has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams, undeniably one of the league’s elite receivers, has prompted several teams to consider potential deals, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets emerging as front-runners in the negotiations.
According to sources, the Pittsburgh Steelers have actively engaged in discussions regarding a trade for Adams, with both parties maintaining open lines of communication. The New York Jets are also closely monitoring the situation, eyeing Adams as a potential key player to strengthen their roster. Although the Dallas Cowboys had shown initial interest, recent reports indicate that they are no longer involved in trade talks at this time.
Adams’ frustration with the Raiders has been building, partly triggered by a circulating screenshot that showed Raiders’ coach Antonio Pierce "liking" an Instagram post hinting at Adams’ potential departure. Pierce, however, refrained from commenting on trade discussions, stating he is solely focused on the upcoming game against Denver.
Las Vegas is not in a rush to part with Adams unless their demands, which include a second-round pick coupled with additional compensation, are met. Meanwhile, Adams has made it clear he wishes to leave as swiftly as possible. Notably, Adams would favor a trade to either the New York Jets or the New Orleans Saints.
Further complicating matters, Adams did not play in the Raiders' recent victory over the Cleveland Browns due to a hamstring injury. He was present on the sidelines in street clothes, and is expected to continue rehabbing.
If a trade materializes, the financial specifics are also in play. The Raiders would face a $15.7 million dead money hit on their 2025 salary cap, whereas any acquiring team would be responsible for $13.5 million for the remaining season. Various teams have previously employed strategies such as converting part of a player’s salary into a signing bonus to facilitate trade deals.
For the Jets, a trade would reunite Adams with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, his longtime partner from their days with the Green Bay Packers. The Jets, who currently have $16.8 million in cap space, could benefit significantly from Adams’ addition, bolstering an underwhelming wide receiver lineup led by Garrett Wilson.
The Steelers, meanwhile, face a pressing need for receiver depth, as their current corps outside of George Pickens has underperformed. Pittsburgh's well-known for astute negotiations and might propose a second-round pick or a combination involving receiver Calvin Austin III.
Despite the Cowboys' potential interest in bolstering their lineup, their financial commitments to key players like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons have deterred them from pursuing Adams aggressively.
Adams has had a stellar career, marked by six Pro Bowl selections and four consecutive 100-catch seasons. This season, he has recorded 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown in just three games.
The unfolding saga around Davante Adams’ trade request promises to be one of the most captivating stories in the NFL, with multiple teams weighing the costs and benefits of acquiring this future Hall of Fame receiver.
