Court records have revealed chilling details surrounding a double-murder case in Bloomfield, Nebraska. Alias Reed, 25, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony, while his wife, Kaylyne Sweazy, 27, faces a charge of tampering with evidence. The victims, Curtis Strom, 77, and William Reffett, 49, were found dead at Curt's Lanes and Dining after suffering gunshot wounds.

Reed allegedly entered the bowling alley with a concealed shotgun in a cardboard box and fatally shot Strom and Reffett in the head. Following the killings, Reed took money from one of the victim's wallets and the business register before fleeing the scene. Sweazy reportedly disposed of the shotgun with Reed and later confessed to police about his involvement.

The couple had recently welcomed a newborn child, but state officials deemed their home unfit for the baby, resulting in the child being placed in foster care. The day of the murders, a motion was filed to expedite a custody hearing for their child, scheduled for March 7.

Despite the horrific nature of the crime, investigators have stated that they do not believe the custody battle and the murders are connected. Reed and Sweazy are set to be arraigned on their charges on March 7, while a plea hearing for the child's custody is also scheduled for the same day. The tight-knit community of Bloomfield, with a population of just over 1,000, has been left reeling from the tragedy.

Don Henery, the Knox County Sheriff, expressed shock over the incident, noting that it has been a rare occurrence in Bloomfield and Knox County. The Nebraska State Patrol assured the community of Bloomfield that their focus is on achieving a successful prosecution in the case, while offering condolences to the families of the victims.

Reed is currently held in the Knox County Jail, while Sweazy is detained in the Antelope County Jail as the investigation continues to unfold.
