Severe thunderstorms are anticipated to pass through Southeast Michigan on Thursday afternoon, bringing with them the potential for hazardous weather conditions. According to meteorologists, all of Michigan should brace for showers and storms throughout the day, with Southeast Michigan likely experiencing the worst of it by late afternoon, possibly as early as 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has designated Southeast Michigan as under a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather, while the rest of the state faces a slightly lower risk. The entire Lower Peninsula, including Metro Detroit, has been issued a 2% chance of an isolated tornado.

4Warn Meteorologist Bryan Schuerman has forecasted that a line of thunderstorms will enter the region between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., clearing out by midnight. However, Schuerman believes that the severity of the weather event will not be widespread across the region. While damaging winds and large hail pose the primary storm threats, the possibility of an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, particularly in areas under the slight risk designation. Wind speeds are expected to gust as high as 25-30 mph throughout the day.

Residents of Michigan are advised to stay informed about the approaching severe thunderstorms and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and residents are recommended to check the interactive radar for real-time updates on the storm's movement.

As always, it is essential to stay prepared and be aware of changing weather conditions, especially during periods of severe weather. Stay tuned to local news outlets and heed any warnings or instructions from official weather sources to ensure your safety during this potentially stormy period.
