The Port of Seattle is currently grappling with a potential cyberattack that has caused significant disruptions at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Since Saturday morning, many travelers have been faced with missed flights and long delays due to web and online systems outages.

International travelers Maria Camilon Price and her daughter Alexis found themselves waiting in line for hours to check in for their flight. With the universal system down, airport staff had to manually enter passengers' information, leading to frustration and lengthy delays. Despite arriving two and a half hours early, the Prices were caught in a crowded lobby, further complicating their travel plans.

For other travelers like Lena Frank and Jan Lintz, the outages came as a surprise upon landing. They discovered that their connecting flight to Vancouver had already departed, leaving them stranded. Rebooking their flight became a challenge as phone lines and Wi-Fi across the airport were also down, making it difficult to contact airlines for assistance.

The Port of Seattle's website remained inaccessible on Sunday, adding to the frustration of travelers who couldn't check their flight status or access important information. Phone systems at the Maritime Facilities were also affected, prompting the Port to provide alternative phone numbers for urgent inquiries.

As of Sunday morning, the Port of Seattle reported that system outages were still ongoing, including at the airport itself. Port teams were working tirelessly to restore normal operations, but no estimated time for resolution was given. In light of the situation, Seattle-Tacoma Airport advised passengers to allow extra time for travel and to check with their airlines for specific information. They also recommended completing online check-in and using digital boarding passes, while suggesting that passengers travel with carry-on luggage if possible.

Terminal screens at the airport were also experiencing technical difficulties, making it necessary for travelers to rely on updates from their respective airlines for gate information. The airport assured passengers that they were working closely with relevant authorities and partners to assist those affected by the disruptions.

KIRO 7 will continue to bring updates on the situation as more information regarding the outage and estimated recovery time becomes available. In the meantime, SeaTac urges travelers to exercise patience and follow the recommended guidelines to minimize further disruptions.
