Two-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson is currently in negotiations to star in the highly anticipated Jurassic World reboot directed by Gareth Edwards at Universal. The news, which has been circulating for some time, appears to be solidifying, marking another major movie franchise for Johansson following her time as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Johansson's involvement with Jurassic World comes after her highly publicized legal battle with Disney over the 2021 pandemic release of the film Black Widow. The studio's decision to simultaneously release the movie on Disney+ resulted in the actress filing a lawsuit, accusing Disney of siphoning box office earnings. Eventually, both parties reached a settlement.

Universal is fast-tracking the production of the Jurassic World reboot with a targeted release date of July 2, 2025. The screenplay is being penned by David Koepp, who previously adapted Michael Crichton's classic novel for the original Jurassic Park film. The new installment promises to offer a fresh take on the Jurassic era, with notable absences of previous cast members such as Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill.

The franchise, which has been a global box office success, has amassed a staggering $1.67 billion over its more than 30-year history. The franchise began with Steven Spielberg's groundbreaking Jurassic Park in 1993, followed by two sequels - The Lost World (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001). Universal revived the series in 2015 with Jurassic World, followed by Fallen Kingdom in 2018, and the upcoming final installment, Dominion, scheduled for release in 2022.

Jurassic World will be executive produced by acclaimed filmmaker Steven Spielberg through his production company, Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce the film through Kennedy-Marshall, while Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell will oversee production at Universal as EVP Production Development and Creative Executive of Production Development, respectively.

Scarlett Johansson's previous work has earned her critical acclaim, with nominations for Best Actress in Marriage Story and Supporting Actress in Jojo Rabbit, both in 2020. The news of Johansson's involvement in the Jurassic World reboot was first reported by InSneider.

As fans eagerly await the next installment in the beloved Jurassic Park franchise, the addition of Scarlett Johansson to the cast adds further excitement and anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling and visually stunning dinosaur adventure.
