**Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Eggs Affects 79 Individuals Across Seven States**

A recent salmonella outbreak linked to a recall of 1.7 million eggs has resulted in illness for dozens of people in seven states, primarily in the Western United States. According to federal safety regulators, the affected eggs include multiple brands of brown organic and brown cage-free varieties sold in grocery stores.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that the August Egg Company, based in Hilmar, California, initiated the recall. The recalled eggs were distributed from February 3 to May 15 of this year due to potential contamination with salmonella.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that at least 79 individuals have fallen ill as a result of this outbreak, with 21 of them requiring hospitalization. Federal agencies continue to monitor the situation as they work to contain the spread and inform the public about the risks.
