### Patriots QB Drake Maye Cleared to Start Against Titans

The New England Patriots received a significant boost as rookie quarterback Drake Maye has been cleared from the concussion protocol, ensuring his availability for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. This development comes after Maye suffered a head injury in the team's victory over the Jets, where he exited during the second quarter following a hit to the back of his helmet.

Maye’s presence on the field was uncertain all week. Following the injury, he was limited in practice sessions and was reportedly in phase three of the NFL's five-step concussion protocol as of Wednesday. However, by Thursday and Friday, he had increased his participation, culminating in clearance by both team doctors and an independent neurological consultant.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo had indicated that Maye would start if he received medical clearance, which was confirmed when the rookie quarterback was removed from the injury report. In his final press conference of the week, Coach Mayo expressed confidence in Maye’s readiness. This sets the stage for Maye to go up against a formidable Titans defense, which is ranked ninth in total DVOA.

Maye's ability to progress through his reads and make quick decisions has impressed the coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. Van Pelt highlighted Maye’s growing expertise in handling pressure and making the right calls on the field. The third-overall pick in the draft has already displayed promising playmaking skills in his initial starts, blending physical talent with a nuanced understanding of the game.

In addition to Maye, several other Patriots players who were listed as questionable will be available for Sunday’s matchup. Key players including safety Kyle Dugger, tackle Vederian Lowe, linebacker Christian Elliss, and defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy made the trip to Tennessee, signaling their potential readiness for the game.

The Patriots also face decisions regarding roster moves, having until 4 p.m. ET to elevate any players from the practice squad or activate cornerback Alex Austin from injured reserve. Given recent roster changes, including the addition of linebacker Ochaun Mathis, any further moves remain speculative.

This positive shift in the Patriots’ roster health could be pivotal as they seek to secure their first back-to-back wins since the 2022 season. All eyes will be on Maye to see how he navigates a challenging Titans defense on Sunday.
