**Ricky Pearsall Scores First NFL Touchdown Two Months After Being Shot**
Ricky Pearsall has made a remarkable return to the field. Just two months after being shot in the chest on the streets of San Francisco, the rookie wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers recorded the first touchdown of his NFL career on Sunday. This early score helped the 49ers secure a 7-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Displaying the speed that secured his selection as a first-round draft pick in April, Pearsall's touchdown came on a second-and-5 play from the San Francisco 46-yard line. Quarterback Brock Purdy connected with Pearsall on a pass over the middle, which was caught near the 30-yard line. Pearsall then outran three Tampa Bay defenders, including Antoine Winfield Jr., who made a last-ditch effort to tackle him near the goal line, but to no avail.
Selected as the 31st pick in the April draft out of Florida, Pearsall's journey to this milestone has been far from typical. On September 1, he was shot in the chest during an alleged attempted armed robbery near Union Square in San Francisco while attending an autograph-signing event. Remarkably, the bullet missed vital organs, enabling him to be released from the hospital just a day later. Pearsall returned to practice only four days after the shooting.
Pearsall was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list to start the season, causing him to miss the first six games. He made his NFL debut in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs and had accumulated seven catches for 59 yards over two games before his standout performance on Sunday.
With his first NFL touchdown now under his belt, Pearsall is poised to be a significant asset for the 49ers as they vie for a spot in the NFC playoffs. His perseverance and speed could prove pivotal in the games to come.
